I've lived in Japan for 22 years, teaching English, playing jazz saxophone and compulsively writing memoirs, essays, comic bits, a novel and two comedic paranormal detective short novels. The latter were intensely fun to write. Luckily married to the right lady, father of three in complicated ways, my youngest in first grade. Would love to return to Berkeley but the economic landscape shifted. Like Neo waking into a new world, I'm trying to grasp that fame is bullshit and community is everything. And love is nice work, if you can get it.
