I read whatever comes to hand, some of the best books have been those from authors I'd never have thought of reading.
My writing is equally eclectic I write what ever comes to mind, sometimes it works as a style sometimes it peters out because I can't maintain the pace. It's damn hard to continuously write in the style of Mickey Spillane or like the script of Airplane!
My first novella of some 27, 000 words started off like a script from Naked Gun and ended up somewhere different. Still good but different.
