About Drew Welsheimer's Reading & Writing

The genre doesn't matter. If it's well-written, I enjoy reading anything. What I read the most are graphic novels. A few of my heroes are Adrian Tomine, Gabrielle Bell, and Daniel Clowes. If you don't know them, you should. As far as my writing, I love character-driven stories, and I always end with a happy ending. Life's hard. If you want an escape, why bother with a unhappy ending? My strong suit is dialogue. I have written screenplays, a fantasy novel, and a adolescent/YA novel. I like the idea of appealing to teenagers, because they learn so much from a good story. That being said, I also like writing gritty stuff too, containing adult content. The common bond, which is always represented in all of my writing, is I like my protagonist to be the underdog. I like reading a solid story about an underdog hero/heroine overcoming impossible adversity.
