My mysteries center around John Mason, a police detective and his friend, Ron Penfield, a high school counselor. Living in suburban Atlanta, the two begin as adversaries when Penfield is suspected of murdering his wife, but will become (in later books) allies. The "normal suburban" setting is filled with people who are poignant and eccentric, just like real life.
