I wrote a fictional tale that takes place in Brazil where I lived for a number of years. It's a kind of thriller/romance but mostly I just created a story on my own without trying to follow any genre guidelines. I took a course in 'character-based' fiction so the pace is a little slower with a lot more detail as far as how the characters feel about what is happening to them. I feel that my work is very original and comparable to no one. I also feel that my word usage and descriptions were very meticulously done and effective. I hope I'm right. Mostly, I just had a lot of fun in crafting a story and I hope that the care I put into the story comes through. I like to read all sorts of fiction. Lately, the free classics on Kindle are what I've been reading and I find that I'm getting quite hooked on older writing as opposed to current day writing.
