I loved this idea I spotted in a holiday-themed Cozy Mystery called A HOLIDAY YARN by Sally Goldenbaum. Basically, the characters in the book knit a charity project for orphans in South Africa, and then at the end of the book the author includes an invitation for readers to do the same project, and explains how to donate the project. It's a great bonus for the reader (aka marketing tactic), but it also encourages readers to really get involved with issues being brought up in the book.
Would your book lend yourself to such an idea? Something to think about for 2014!
