Short Bio:

In my latest query letter, I described myself as a disillusioned civil servant who writes to keep from losing her damn mind. I write women's fiction. I write character studies. I think books should have a point. I prefer a good story with likable characters over clever plots, gimmicky ideas and lofty writing styles. I write book reviews for The Columbus Dispatch, but I never write negative reviews for newspaper publication. I write reviews for books that I want other people to read. Books I believe in and want to pass on. I am a dog person, a mother, a wife, and I think, a really good friend. At least that's what my friends tell me. It is my hope to make a second career out of writing because the first one has been a huge disappointment and my retirement plan includes supplementing my pension.

About Karen Goodwin's Reading & Writing

I like an authentic voice. I like books that tell me a story that will either educate me, improve me and/or entertain me. I read across lots of genres. I read fiction and non-fiction. I buy a lot of ebooks from Book Bub and keep them in reserve on Google Play. I also download audio books from my local library. And I still like the feel of a book in my hands. I'm usually reading three different books at one time, but I try to read different genres at the same time otherwise I get characters and plots confused. I worry that I'll die before I read all the books I have stacked up.
