Short Bio:

MFA graduate who went on to do video production. Have written four screenplays and a few short stories. Haven't done anything with them though (no attempt at publication.) Just finished a first draft of a full length novel. Want it to be funny and engaging and now as I revise am losing perspective (is it funny? Too over the top? etc.) Have lost my writing community from school days and am looking to reconnect with some insightful people with whom I can be helpful and vice versa.

I read almost anything if it keeps my interest. I tend not to read fantasy or a lot of sci-fi or YA. Although I have read probably ten sci-fi books in my life and have enjoyed them. I just want a good story and/or beautiful prose. But mostly compelling characters. Genre is secondary. Lately I've been looking for comedy fiction. Have recently read (In comedic fiction) A Dirty Job by Chris Moore, Mermaids In Paradise by L. Millet, Pretty Ugly by Kirker Butler, and Wake up, Sir! by J. Ames. Which were all decent but didn't crack me up. I have favorite books more than favorite authors (although I've listed a few). I tend to read a book every 1-2 weeks.
