Short Bio:

Annmarie Chiarini is a professor of English at a community college and a victim advocate for the Cyber Civil Rights Initiative (CCRI). She recently earned an MFA in creative non-fiction from Goucher College. Annmarie is writing a memoir about becoming the victim of a vicious new crime: non-consensual pornography (revenge porn). Her efforts to file criminal charges were unsuccessful due to weak legislation in Maryland, where she resides. As a result Annmarie began the fight for new legislation. In 2012, she testified before the Judiciary Committee of the Maryland General Assembly in support of Senate Bill 175. The bill was passed into law in April 2012; it amended the current online harassment legislation, providing victims with stronger prosecuting ability. In January 2014 Annmarie again stood before the judicial committee in support of House Bill 43 to fight for legislation making revenge porn a crime. In April 2014 the governor of Maryland signed the revenge porn bill into law.
