Short Bio:

I was born and raised in Michigan, attended college in California. The plan was to be a history teacher, but after a brief 'testing of the waters', I realized that my temperament was not suited to dealing with juvenile delinquents. If I had continued in that line of work I'm sure I would have incurred a law suit eventually. Instead, became a Cop for 30 years, in Michigan and New Mexico. I did some writing in high school and the first couple of years in college, then life got in the way for a long, long time and the writing was put on the back burner. Finally decided to get serious a couple of years ago, figuring that God had to be getting pretty impatient with me. My imagination zigs and zags all over the place. If you read my work you'll find that it may range from spirituality to horror, from romance to violence and death. I do lean to the unexpected, and what you get depends on whether I'm zigging or zagging... My hobbies include reading, chess and jogging.

About J.C. Laird's Reading & Writing

A Stephen King fan, I have all of his books and belong to the Stephen King Library. I also have the complete works of Edgar Allan Poe. That said, my favorite book is The Book Thief by Markus Zusak - a fantastic novel and writer. And I have nothing against a good romance, thriller or who-done-it. I also enjoyed the oldie, "The Black Rose, " by Thomas B. Costain, pub. 1945. Not exactly your main-stream literature, but an oh, so good romance. My perpetual problem is connecting authors with their work. I read a book because it's good, not necessarily because of who wrote it. So somebody gives me an author's name and I fail to connect the name with what I've read. Same with music, I may recognize and like a song but can't tell you who sang/played it... Favorite Quote "It's the things you learn after you know it all that counts." - John Wooden My Last Book Doctor Sleep, by Stephen King
