On principle, you will find me mostly reviewing dark, character driven stories that are set in fantastical realms, other planets, other dimensions, or are post-apocalypse. Moral ambiguity, paradigm shifts, and vast, epic adventures catch my attention immediately.
Although my heart lies with science fiction and fantasy, a compelling enough plot can pull me to nearly any genre. For instance, while housed in the category of historical fiction, James Clavell's "Shogun" is my favorite novel of all time. For this reason, although I usually read sci-fi and fantasy, I try to keep an open mind. You never know when you'll find a gem in an unlikely place.
