Short Bio:

Born in Philadelphia Pennsylvania, Marita Krivda Poxon acquired her love of writing when she realized she had some talent. She won an essay contest at age 12 and her teachers were astonished since she was so quiet with her nose in a book mostly. Immersed in literature which she read from the Classics at her local public library, she went onto study English and Irish literature at Temple University and abroad in both England and Ireland. She also took a degree in librarianship so she could always, around the clock be surrounded by books. Now that she is retired, she has collected a significant number of bookcases loaded with books that fill her 1888 Victorian family home in East Oak Lane, Philadelphia. She lives with her husband Michael Poxon with four cats and their terribly spoiled Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Trevor.

About Marita Krivda Poxon's Reading & Writing

I fell in love with C.S. Lewis's Chronicles of Narnia as a very young reader and later with Charles Dickens whose novels I read throughout high school. I read the canon of literature in college and graduate schools. And books I various clubs. Now I have been reading local history books to get material for the Images of America pictorial history books I have begun to write since I retired in 2010. Lately, I have discovered a great vintage bookstore which has thousands of great used, classic books - and a section called Irish Alley. I have been there a lot to write my Irish Ghost Stories and other Irish items. I think my imagination has become preoccupied with the Hibernian saga. Irish history and literature are forefront in my literary imagination. For now anyway. Ghost stories can be written about almost any historical time and place..
