Short Bio:

Born in Germany, I was raised by my mother and grandmother with stories. Many, many stories. Fairy tales when I was a child, other books as I got older. My mother always read a lot, there was never a shortage of books in our house and I have always enjoyed fantastical worlds - while she preferred literary fiction. Once I got older, I started scribbling my own stories, have been writing on and off since I was 13 and let ideas grow in my head for years and years until eventually, they need to get out. When I was 19, I moved to the Netherlands to study there. After seven years there, it has now taken me across the channel, to England, where I now live, work, and - hopefully soon - publish.

About Margaret Melchior's Reading & Writing

I always enjoyed reading fantasy and science fiction, although I am rather picky about it. If I don't like what I am reading, I won't finish it. Books that will forever stay with me are 'Der Greif' by Wolfgang Hohlbein, 'Coraline' by Neil Gaiman, and the Harry Potter series in its entirety - I was one of those kids that waited outside bookstores the night before a new release, dressed up as a little witch, hoping to get one of the very first editions. I want books that let me forget what time it is, I want books that let me forget everything else. A quirk I took over from my mother: I spoil myself. When I am about halfway through a book, I have to turn to the last page and read the very last paragraph. I have to. I think I'll spontaneously combust if I don't. The last book I read was 'The Fault In Our Stars' by John Green. And because of my job, I read a lot of scientific literature. basically, when I am not writing, I read. That's all I do.
