Short Bio:

I started writing my first novel at fifteen. I never really stopped, but I also never really finished a rough draft until this year. I would get pretty far, like 80 - 100 pages, then I would get writers block, get distracted, eventually get a new idea and start over. Nanowrimo intensified this. Now I finally have a finished rough draft, and nothing else in my life is going anywhere, so I'm pouring myself into the editing and revising processes. I also write poetry, in the awesome and supportive Boston Spoken Word scene, and I perform all around New England. I've started sending poems to journals, and I've managed to get one published. I'd love to write short stories, but every time I start one it runs away and wants to be a novel.

About NAComstock's Reading & Writing

I love Sci-Fi and fantasy of all sorts. Basically I will read anything short of purely realistic, contemporary fiction. I'm just getting into Historical Fiction (Naomi Novik is a gateway drug.) I like fast-paced novels with memorable characters. Romance and humor aren't necessary, but they both help a lot. Actually, I think some level of humor is necessary. Novels that can make a social commentary or make me think about things while also being entertaining are the pinnacle of the genre for me, but being a good read comes first. The book I'm working on right now is either Traditional Fantasy or Young Adult Fantasy (I'm hoping my target audience will become clear as I write the second draft.) It revolves around a world where a magical apocalypse has caused landmasses and geographical features to move constantly, rendering the terrain unnavigable by all but a select few born with magic.
