My reading? Omniverous and continuous. For about 20 years I have led and been a member of a Reed College alumni book group on the San Francisco Peninsula where we have read everything from a Kazuo Ishiguro double-header to "A social history of the machine gun." I just finished Walter Isaacson's "Steve Jobs" and am about to begin re-reading Robert Harris' "Conspirata: A novel of ancient Rome." As a kid I read enormous quantities of sci-fi, but see that I have almost stopped reading genre fiction except for detective or spy fiction (all of the oeuvres of Alan Fuerst and Daniel Silva). This has not stopped me from writing a Silicon Valley techno-detective novel. A former special forces soldier, I also read heavily into military history, policy, and technology.
