Short Bio:

Retired software engineer/college math teacher; writer of poetry, non-fiction, and fiction. Have a Ph.D. in Zoology (evolutionary biology & animal behavior); student of religion; I am working on a book synthesizing spirituality, science, and the arts; I write fiction about social issues, especially abuse of women and children; I am writing a series of novels about the world of sexual exploitation and violence. I have recently completed a series of courses in creative writing (poetry), and I am working on a collection of poems for later publication. I currently have my first novel complete in second draft form, and its sequel in first draft form. I have plans for two more novels in that series.

About rswestman's Reading & Writing

I read all kinds of books because I have a very large set of interests. I read a lot on evolutionary theory and anthropology (especially in the area of religion and spirituality), religions, physics, systems theory, and psychology; I enjoy reading many poets, especially those who show background in biology and/or archeology (especially Loren Eiseley, Ellen Voigt Bryant, and Mary Oliver, I ofen read magazines such as Scientific American, Nature, Proceedings of the National Academy of Science, Ecology, and Animal Behavior. For recreation, I thoroughly enjoy Louis L'Amour and Steig Larsson.
