About Jennifer Baylor's Reading & Writing

About two years ago, my husband convinced me to stop chasing down soulless careers and face the facts: the only thing I was ever passionate about was writing. I'm very lucky that he supports me, and I now write nearly full time, with just a bit of time spent on teaching (part-time) yoga classes. I've mainly written short stories, but I have two novels completed to a first draft stage that I'm endlessly rewriting. I feel that I've made a lot of progress in my short story writing, but am struggling with the novel. I'd like to get past rewrites on my first novels and start churning out more stories. I think it is the only way I will make any progress. I enjoy reading just about anything. I very rarely come across a book I simply can't finish. That said, I do tend to read a lot of fantasy (of all sorts), these days, and light, chic-lit. In my younger years I was a SciFi junkie and read every book in the Star Wars universe as well as Asimov and Bradbury and others.
