I've been writing on and off for about 4-5 years and a reader for less than two. I try to find a balance between the two, and have found myself analyzing story structure to better my own skills as a writer. So far I've yet to finish anything longer than a 5k short story and that was about two years ago, during a college creative writing class.
I've improved a lot since then and I hope my perspective will be helpful to those who have posted their stories on this site.
My current work in progress is a little over 20k words and has a target goal of 60k words.
