About Thomas Ryan's Reading & Writing

I began writing 'The field of Blackbirds' four years ago. Since then I have completed the drafts of another five novels with the same main protagonist. I have about seventy odd short stories in various stages of completion and I put one of these up on my website the first of each month instead of a blog. I write twitter thrillers. Small twisty tales that fit within the 140 character guideline as laid down by twitter. Plonk in an address it leaves me about 115 characters to use. I try to put two or three of these out each week. 'The Field of Blackbirds' went on ebook through BookBaby mid December. No idea about sales yet. Too early to tell. I never went near an agent or publisher. Just did not see the point. The next novel will go into the market October this year. As for reading. I mostly read thrillers to hone my craft. I consider myself up with the best but that is just hard work. I've studied Lee Child and others to learn about pace and how to weave intricate plots.
