About Gayle Selisch's Reading & Writing

As a river outfitter on the Middle Fork of the Salmon for over 25 years I have cooked many a meal in Dutch Ovens. People love river trips, along with the food that is served on them. Asked over and over again why I had never written a cookbook the answer was simple. I hate writing out recipes. I was never compelled to write a cookbook, it was enough for me to cook for our clients, family and friends. I guess I needed a cause, but such big one? Life changed in 2008 when our beautiful 16 year old daughter "Brooke" was killed in a car accident. When you loose a child, nothing else matters, nothing. Your kid is gone and you wish you were too. I was not aware what was happening to me when I started writing this book 3 years ago. Something was pushing me, and that something was the spirit of my daughter. Brooke was a natural equestrian, and a beautiful rider. Proceeds from this book will benifit the Swiftsure Therapeutic Equestrian Center in memory of Brooke; she knew, horses heal.
