About Mark Crozier's Reading & Writing

I am an inveterate reader, and usually have a couple of books going at once. I like non-fiction more than fiction these days. When I want to read fiction I usually dip into a book by one of my favourite authors. My writing was heavily influenced by thriller and crime fiction writers. I just prefer the pacy, action-oriented style of writing of this genre. My first book was a homage to a lot of these authors and film-makers that influenced me. It was a sort of revisionist detective-western that also sought to subvert a lot of the cliches that have emerged from these two classic American artforms. My second novel is more contemporary and seeks to move beyond any obvious influences. My work has been described as very visual.
