Writing in Serbo/Croat from childhood, and later in English I was enamored by stories of people thrown into unfamiliar backgrounds and the challenges they face to fit in.
Books by Sienkiewicz, Hemingway, Steinbeck...many Balkan authors all drove me to them. Later I also developed a fascination with World Literature from Middle Eastern and North African authors like Leila Aboulela, Ahdaf Souef and Al Tayeb Saleh among others. Zadie Smith, Amitav Ghosh, Arundathi Roy are some of the Indian authors that have fascinated me as well.
Basically, I am an eclectic reader and welcome opening myself to new ideas, genres, topics and worlds
