I enjoy reading and writing suspense fiction. My writing style is relaxed and down to earth, and my stories like to examine deeper ideas about the nature of the average Joe... or Jane. I enjoy reading John Irving, Stephen King, Dan Brown and John Grisham as well as Jodi Picoult to name a few. I enjoy any book that makes me think, and I try to emulate that in my own work. A humorous thread tends to run through my work, although my recent completed fiction, CASTING STONES, is set from 1910 through 1955 and the nature of my characters drives the humor in this work to be less satirical than I normally would choose to be. I attempted to stay within the historic parameters of the piece and feel it succeeded and works well. I recently read Stephen Kings, FULL DARK, NO STARS, and really enjoyed the brevity of the stories. I would like to write short and see if I can be concise and still achieve that level of suspense.
