I've been writing stories for as long as I can remember. I remember my first, which was about a crocodile called (wait for it) Croc – unrelated to the Playstation game’s ‘Croc’ – who had adventures involving falling out of trees and becoming a vegetarian. Yep, it has to be said, my seven-year-old self was a literary genius. Moving on from herbivorous reptiles, I was influenced by TV and film, and started writing fantasy, but that really didn’t bode well for me. I found myself only able to write at night, and didn’t dare tell anyone about it.
I know for a fact that I could already read before I went to school. I know this because I missed out on the ‘Magic Key’ books, because I was too advanced for them and didn’t get extra reading lessons (boo). My favourite books are still general fiction Young Adult. I feel that one day, I will move on to grown-up fiction, but not yet. I won’t be leaving YA just yet, despite being 20 and nearly old enough to adopt a child.
