I have read a thousand plus books and found very few I didn’t like. My favorites are adventure stories or romances with a good plot. Even in stories I don’t normally read I can find something to hold my interest. I like stories that have enough detail so that the plot is easily acceptable, not like TV where most things are assumed. I have tried to write my own stories the same way. If something happens late in the story, the details making that possible are covered elsewhere in the story, possibly in the first chapter. I don’t like a lot of blood and gore just for the sake of blood and gore. Sex is the same; if it helps the characters develop then good, otherwise skip it. Tender moments tend to get my full attention, as well as loyalty to family and country. I like reading about those things and I try to put the same in my own writings. My male characters tend to be hard, but with a soft spot. My females are reversed, mostly soft but if need be can be as hard as iron.
