I'm a sucker for good writing, but even more so for fully fleshed-out characters. I love YA fiction, fantasy, science fiction, literary fiction, and pretty much anything well-grounded in its time and place. I have a special love for things involving weird memory tricks, a unique voice, time travel, and unusual relationships. I love queer protagonists and love stories (if done well, of course). I've never been into romance fiction before, and I regret it; there's nothing quite like a skillfully-rendered romance, and it seems that most of the best books regardless genre have one.
In writing, I am learning to start with character and work from there. In the past I have largely stuck to fantasy fiction, but lately I'm veering into literary fiction as well. I think writing is fun and I like to try new processes, tenses and points of view. If it feels difficult I want to try it. Not that fussed about getting published; if it happens, it happens. I'm enjoying the ride in the meantime!
