About Mary Kate Leahy's Reading & Writing

I enjoy reading a wide range of fiction and non-fiction books. My project for the summer is to re-read all of Shakespeare, which should keep me busy. I currently am writing a series of fantasy-romance books that follow the lives of major players in the politics and warfare of the fictional country of Alainn. I try to write characters that I think will inspire people, and young women especially, to be courageous with the challenges they face. Some of my work can be very dark and deals with real-life issues of violence, domestic abuse, sexual assault and other topics that are sometimes difficult to read about but I feel should be addressed in the arts. I also like to make the works funny with scenes of slapstick humor or dirty joke telling.
Favorite Writers:

Lawrence Friedman (A History of American Law)
