I am a pop culture slut. I will read anything that doesn't take itself too seriously. My favorites include Chuck Palahniuk, Christopher Moore, Hiaasen, E. Leonard, and, of course, S. King. Tragedy is omnipresent today, so I look to reading and writing for escape and comedy, especially in the classic sense. If you want hubris, watch the news. I think we could use a few more stories of (anti) heroes who learn something and thereby get to walk away.
