When in the creative writing mode, most of my stories would be considered young adult fantasy; however, for the last few years my writing has been purely academic, as I just finished my Master's degree and I'm currently pursuing my PhD.
A favorite style of mine is the humorous personal narrative--there is nothing better than short stories that make me laugh. Also underrated, the extended character sketch. That being said, when I'm reading for fun, you can pretty much bet it is either young adult fiction or a book that is text-book style. Yes, I'm a big nerd who likes to learn about everything!
