About Armin Shimerman's Reading & Writing

I am an ardent reader of Tudor and English medieval History, while at the same time I love well written mysteries. In my writing, I try to blend those two interests and add a deep understanding of character, which is what I have been trained to do as an actor. Though I have been successful as a Science Fiction writer, I am currently working (almost completed) on a Tudor mystery involving the religious wars in Elizabethan times. The Dramatis Personae mixes historical figures including Dr. John Dee, Walsingham, Edmund Campion, and Shakespeare with characters from Shakespeare's Twelfth Night. I have scrupulously made sure all descriptions of objects, activities, and points of view are historically correct. All of the characters were alive and could have been where I suggest they were during the years 1581-1584.The research is the fun part. Though the story is mostly about solving a mystery, it has its share of humor. FYI, if the book ever gets made into a movie, I hope to play Feste.
