I try to read broadly but by main passion is for Fantasy and Sci-Fi. I love the classics: Lewis, Tolkien, Howard, Herbert but I also try to stay current on what's being published now: Weeks, Sanderson, Wells, Sykes, Kowal.
I do not like nihilistic fantasy or science fiction but I'm no prude.
I write what I would like to read. Sometimes that's magic-and-cyberpunk sex and violence. Sometimes that's coming of age High Fantasy. I'm also trying my hand at short stories but I'm primarily a novelist at heart.
I am still learning, and always will be, but I think I've got a good grasp craft. The fun/hard part is executing on that.
