Someone once said of me that if I became truly desperate I'd read cereal boxes and skywriting. My tastes in both reading and writing are pretty broad, I haven't met a genre yet that I didn't like, but my writing tends to lean toward fantasy. Particularly the classic, epic and heroic. I love a lush creative landscape and lean toward well-built, well-rounded characters struggling to do the right thing against seemingly impossible odds.
