Hitherto, I have authored four books, edited two others, and have written approximately thirty-five articles, essays and reviews, all of which are non-fiction publications devoted to seventeenth-century Dutch and Flemish art and culture. Much of my reading is related to my scholarly work. However, I now read and write historical fiction, motivated in part by an article published several years ago in The Art Newspaper that bemoaned the lack of interest among professional art historians in writing fiction, despite the immense public appetite for novels involving art.
