About Adam Israel's Reading & Writing

I read a lot of genre work -- short fiction, novels, and more recently graphic novels. My pile of books to read is ever growing. One day, the stack topple and it will be weeks before my body is found. My collection of non-fiction is growing at a rapid pace. Most of it has, or will, influence the things I write. I attended the Clarion Writers' Workshop in 2010. Instructors like George R.R. Martin, Delia Sherman, Samuel Delany, and Jeff & Ann VanderMeer had a profound influence on the way I approached my work and I am forever grateful to them. While I've spent the majority of my writing career focused on short fiction, I am working on the first in a planned series of urban fantasy novels -- part Constantine, part Preacher, and Indiana Jones, centered around three demon-hunting brothers using their lifetimes of experience and tattoo magic to find their families killer. I'm a member of the Inkpunks.com and Booklifenow.com group blogs, and the Codex Writers Group.
