About the Book:
Miss Triana Abernathy is content with being a wallflower, at least that means she has her independence. The problem is the Duke of Chiltern, having breezed into society with all the wealth and charm of a man befitting his station, he makes her feel...things. Annoyed that her simple life might be interrupted, Triana devises a plan to rid her thoughts of this mysterious bachelor and return to her mundane existence. But as she delves further into his secrets, she begins to get more than she bargained for. Not only do the late night kisses sear her blood, but it turns out he's in league with her brother, and it might just be illegal! To make matters even more complicated, an anonymous reporter for the Times has targeted her with his articles! Determined to find out the truth, Triana embarks on a dangerous mission - for both her heart, and her life.
The assignment had been simple - find the person(s) responsible for the opium smuggling ring and stop them. This would have been all well and good for one of England's top spies if he could manage to keep his mind on his work long enough without worrying what the intriguing, and luscious, Triana Abernathy was up to. For Gabriel Wilde, who had worked to maintain an orderly way of life, for that was key to survival, he was aggrieved when his fellow spy's sister started questioning every thing he did in order to paint him with a black brush. It was bad enough that he wanted to kiss her senseless whenever she was around - among other things - but he knew that to give in to such temptation would be nothing short of madness. To add insult to injury is the odious earl who will do anything to make Triana his own.
Unfortunately, the choice is taken from them as they are thrown together to solve a complicated case that involves a proper lady of the ton - and a rather scandalous, red dress. In the end, Gabriel has to save, not only Triana from a disastrous marriage, but his own heart from ruin.
