About the Book:

On a summer day in 1939, when two boys weren’t supposed to be anywhere near their abandoned house in Rockridge, Connecticut, an innocent game of hide and seek went terribly wrong. And one brother would never be the same. 1n 2011, Laney Brooks has been running all over the globe from her grief and agrees to rent a house in Sheffield, Connecticut, not far from her sister and the Rockridge reservoir and dam. But Laney is soon drawn into the controversy over Southwater Corporation’s plans to develop expensive homes on land surrounding the reservoir. Land it seized seventy years ago from the residents of a small town named, Rockridge. Land where a dozen or so antique houses once stood. Then someone starts burning down antique houses in Sheffield, carefully destroying all records of the old town and taking the lives of anyone home. It then becomes clear that the legacy of what happened in 1939 threatens the lives of everyone connected to the reservoir today.
