About the Book:

The unfathomable truth was that Bettina Adler, wife of successful businessman Lucien Girard, well-respected maven of New Orleans society, gracious benefactor of so many charities and causes, and matriarch of the remaining Adler clan was cursed. Though aware that the curse had been laid, a young and brash Bettina dismissed it as so much supernatural nonsense-the mere words of a jealous, grieving wife meant to frighten her. And, frighten her it did, so much so that she had done what anyone in her position would have done-she simply ignored it and tried to forget the awful events that had given rise to it. Ignoring it was easier than carrying the weight of it. But her own family history and the mounting tragedies were more than coincidence. One of the house staff had even jokingly suggested as much. "Miss Bettina, if you didn't have bad luck, you'd have no luck at all. Makes me wonder if they's a ju-ju on you." She had been born and raised in New Orleans, a place so steeped in the superstitious that even the finest ladies, her own mother among them, observed some practice rooted in it, whether it was to throw spilled salt over their shoulders to ward off bad luck, or to incessantly burn blue candles for good fortune and protection. Still, it had taken nearly half her adult life to fathom it. The curse had struck once, and nearly destroyed her own life and future. It had struck again, nearly shattering the psyche of her eldest daughter; yet a third time, it took the life of another. Now it threatened to take her beloved granddaughter, Sophie. Determined to deliver herself and her family from the curse before it claims another Adler woman, she plunges headlong into the dark, underbelly of mystical and mythical New Orleans to remove it. In the process, many secrets kept over a lifetime are revealed that rock not only the foundation of Bettina’s privileged world, but the entire Adler family, as well, as Bettina comes face to face with the woman who started it all.

About the Author:

Writing has been my passion since I was old enough to put pen to paper. I have a degree in English Literature, have spent countless hours reading, workshopping, studying the art of writing. There isn't a day that goes by without some effort to write, even if it's jotting down an idea or a bit of dialogue, or something that intrigues me on a human level that I think might have the bones of a good scene. I have so many irons in the fire - this, however, is the one that I am having the most fun with at the moment.
