About the Book:

Some secrets remain hidden for centuries. What happens when they start to unravel? “You are a disappointment, Blanco-Phoenix.” Those words echo through Pietta’s head, reminding her that as far as everyone at The Academy is concerned, she hasn’t got the skills required and is not good enough to follow in her dead brother’s oversized shoes. What she does have is the desire to run away, tendency to get into trouble, disobey orders, and stick her nose in other people’s business. Add to that mix her complex relationship with her family, and her dislike of the arrogant Thornton Castle, and there is a recipe for disaster waiting to happen during her year of general training. While Pietta battles high expectations, on the other side of the galaxy, Franklin runs from his nemesis. Having stolen an item of great value, Franklin is desperate to protect it, running through space until he lands on a primitive world. Franklin’s mission is simple – find a suitable energy source to recharge his ship Delilah, and keep the cargo safe. But things are never simple when ones very existence relies on keeping their elemental abilities a secret from the locals. As Pietta’s natural earth elemental ability emerges, she tries to find her place within The Academy, but it’s not a smooth transition when she is accused of theft, sabotage, and drug use. She will have to dig deep to find inner strength if she has any hope of discovering who is trying to set her up, and outsmarting her opponent. And she will have to rely on something none of them expect – her own stubbornness and sheer dumb luck. And Franklin? Franklin just needs to survive and keep his secret hidden… ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This book is targeted at New Adult (NA) audience.
