About the Book:
Short Pitch: An immortal empress-in-hiding and a band of mercenaries must elude dangerous religious zealots and stop a sinister plan to steal the ancient power of creation.
In the land of Oparia, the Waarheid faith rules with force and intimidation, spreading their beliefs to all people and destroying all traces of the way of life that once was.
Ailish, the last immortal daughter of the Nyadacean family, must flee to safety with a band of hired mercenaries when a Waarheid priest discovers she is alive. But what is this religious zealot really after?
While being ruthlessly pursued, she and the mercenaries are forced to confront an awesome dark power in the wilderness. Ailish discovers that it may be this power, and her ability to control it, that the Waarheid really seek.
Can Ailish and this unlikely group of mercenaries stop the Waarheid from taking this ancient power and using it to control the world?
About the Author:
I was Born in 1967 and I've been writing since I was a kid. 12 years ago I started to take it more seriously and enrolled in the Long Ridge Writers course called "Breaking into Print." I was paired up with author Mary-Ann Tirone Smith, author of the memoir Girls of Tender Age (fabulous book by the way), and really started to work on my craft. I got some great feedback while working with Mary-Ann and started to find my voice. I came pretty close to getting a few short stories published, however, life got in the way and I went back to school to finish other degrees and I stopped writing.
Last summer I got the itch again, and since I no longer had homework to do, I started writing a novel.
This is an unfinished work. I'm currently at 63,000 words and working with a local writing group. Seeking other opinions on plot, characterization, voice etc.
