About the Book:

The day thirteen year old Dexter becomes king of Pozzelby is the worst day of his life. That is the day his father, brothers, and uncle are murdered by unknown conspirators. The assassins try to kill Dexter and miss. He finds himself spirited away from his home to Pozzelby castle, an ancient structure so massive that four-fifths of it lies unused and forgotten. With the help of a handful of trusted friends, including a twelve year old girl with dreams of being a witch, a hundred year old alchemist, and a foreign ex-mercenary, Dexter must unravel the conspiracy before becoming its next victim. In order to do that, he will have to overcome dark powers from Pozzelby's past.
