Last night I wrote the magic words, "the end". Project is complete at 68k and I'm more relieved that I can say. Polishing up today and tomorrow and then it's off to the agent for her input then on with the next book.

I must say, I'm finding so much inspiration from seeing everyone's progress here -- keeps me going. yay for Summer Writer's Club!

Congratulations Gwenyffer.  I'm envious.  I'm 110,000 words into this monstrosity and still a long way to go.  I can only guess how long its going to take me to make a second pass.

But yes, indeed, I raise my glass of thick black coffee to all the Summer Writers.  Cheers!

So, I'm late to the party, but I am hoping I can still RSVP. I wrote 3787 words between yesterday and today, and at that rate, I just might be able to swing 53,000 words by Labor Day . . . at least, I can try.

Well done, everyone. Getting your updates about your word count is DEFINITELY inspiring me to make a commitment to my writing as the summer draws to a close. Thank you and keep it up!

Hello, all.

I did it.   Today I hit 53,091 words.

Here are the stats for you number crunchers:   12 weeks have gone by, so that means 4,425 words per week, and 623 words per day.  My best day was 1205 words.  My worst was 197.   I had five days where I was below 500.  I had four were I was above a thousand.  My best week was 5305.   All of this is by way of saying that while my individual days and weeks weren't anything to crow about, I was a marvel of consistency.  In fact, during the last 12 weeks, I worked on this project every single day.   There were other projects going on, but regardless of what else I did, I put in my time on this, too.

It's little enough to boast about, but yes, I'm pleased.  My monstrous novel has grown from just under 58,000 words to just over 111,000.

But I'm not leaving the club.   My new goal is to try and actually finish this rough draft by Sept 2.  I believe it's doable, but I'll have to stay on track.  Three weeks, at my summer pace so far, means about 13,000 words.  I'm not always great at predicting, but I think that's pretty close to how much remains to be written.  That would make it 124,000 pages all told, which for me is enormous, a marathon novel.  But, 90% done.  In marathon terms, that means I have about two-and-a-half miles to go.  Painful.  But the end is in sight.

I think 124000 pages would be a lot for anyone.

I came up a touch short of 500 words today, but I got some solid writing done so I feel good about it.

Put in a few hundred more words tonight to push my total over 56000 for this project.  Getting so close to finishing the first draft I can almost taste it.  Which is weird because it's all digital so it shouldn't have a taste, but there you go.

No word count to report for yesterday and it will probably be the same for the next couple of days due to a spontaneous camping trip. Next week I will have a lot of writing time due to a break in my normal schedule. Looking forward to it!!!

Full disclosure, 56k (now I'm having flashbacks to my early days on the internet) wasn't all for the SWC.  But it's all been since sometime in late January, so I still feel like I've accomplished something.

Tonight I accomplished close to 600 words and finished off the last major scene in the book.  From here on out it's just some quick wrapping up, then revision time (which will hopefully mean more chapters worthy of posting here!).

Started off a little slow tonight, but once I got going I knocked out another 6 or 700 words in a pretty short time.  I love when that happens.

I think I forgot to log in yesterday.   620 for Saturday.    546 for Sunday.    4,172 for the week.

Total for summer:   57,263.

Didn't get quite as far as I'd hoped, but only about a day behind my projection.  Not sure if I'll finish the rough before Sept 2nd.  It'll be close.

Only added about 300 words tonight, but a lot of it was cleaning up some rough thoughts I had put down previously, so I actually wrote more than that.  Some of it was just replacing other words.

I might have to take some time off actual writing and do some planning.  I know the broad strokes of how I want to wrap things up, but now that the time has come to write it I've discovered that I hadn't worked out the details (like the fact that my main character disappeared for months to do his adventuring and probably can't just show back up with no explanation .

539 words for Tuesday.  Not feeling especially driven.   I really would like to finish this whole thing by Sept 2nd, but my brain isn't cooperating.  I think it's afraid of the future, but it won't admit it.   I crossed the 115,000 word threshold today.  I can't see myself finishing it in less than 125 K.   Gad!  Will it never end?
