Unsurprisingly, did not get any words in yesterday due to Stanley Cup viewing : )  Back to the wip today and logged in +770 -- deleted a bunch of notes along the way so that number is best guess minimum. Already hoping for a kick ass word count weekend. I should start resting up for that...  : )

I completely fell off the wagon and haven't written in weeks. I finally got back on track today with 448 words. Not much, but better than zero, I guess.

That's the spirit, Allison!

Day 32: Wrote 288 words after finding a pinterest board with the uniform I was looking for to describe. Go Pinterest!

550.   Really it was a lot more than than, but I threw out a page and a half that I wrote earlier and started fresh.  Amazing how much easier it went after that.

Good night, all.

Well, my writing train has been completely derailed over the past couple of weeks.  First there was the significant problem with my magic mechanics that I had to figure out, but I came up with a solution that I'm happy with and was just about to get back to writing, and that was when my employer decided I was way too happy and laid me off.

So it's been a little over a week since I was notified, I have about three weeks of "work" remaining, but after that I will have all the time in the world to write...except that I'll be spending all of my time looking for a new job.

In any case, I dipped my toe back in the water last night and started rewrites to fix my magic problem.  Not sure how many words I actually wrote because my word count ended up about the same as before I started (which I expected), but it was a few hundred at least.  Pretty sure my 500 words per day average is gone for good, but at least I'm getting back into it again.

Managed 500 words yesterday and another 500 today. Exactly what proportion of it's gibberish, I really couldn't comment.

549.  Tomorrow is a major tent-pole scene.  We'll see what happens.

Allison! good for you for hanging in there. Yes! Any word count is better than zero!

Atthys, I know the frustration of heading a few pages (or chapters) down the wrong path. Glad to see you're back on course. Best luck tomorrow.

Neelie - wow! way to go!

And Alexandria -- isn't pinterest the best? also a time suck, but such a fun resource (and just plain fun!)

For my part, did +600 today and have hit a ponder point. Gotta work out this one little hitch before I go forward. I figure I'll sleep on it : )  Hoping for good progress tomorrow.

Happy writing, all!

Pinterest is the best!

Day 33: 220 words. Short of the minimum goal, but I did launch a new blog yesterday.

did 1500 words today. Now on my ~4th project and like all the others, I think it's really good. I need help.

Speed check in: 1K words written today. Now moving on to edits between periods and after the game. Imagine how much progress I'll make once the season is over : )

Day 34 (and really the only way I keep track is the fact I have all of this written in an excel spreadsheet): 323 words. Much better than Friday.

I don't have it in front of me but I know I topped 1000 today, say 1049.  A vigorous, cathartic scene.   I guess were closed tomorrow so, until Monday, sayonara y'all...

Alrighty then.  Doesn't this place look spiffy!

I'll start the ball rolling.   Yesterday's progress:  1205 words, my best day of the summer so far.

Total for the week:  5301  (also a best)

Equally important, I went to bed last night agonizing over what comes next.  (I thought I knew, then realized I didn't)  Fortunately, a night of sleep did a lot of good, and I now understand where I'm going again.  Whew!  I really didn't want to have to abandon this book after 80.000 words (and yes, it was potentially THAT BAD a problem.)

So, there we go.  Got to write my 500 but first I want to look around this place a little.

Site is kinda shiny. I got my 500 words done for the day, so I'm some how mysteriously on track.

Took all day but I finally managed to scratch out 514 words.   A whole lot happened in the last chapter, and the narrative needs a bit of a breather.  Unfortunately that's harder to write.  Should start cooking again in another day or too.

Since the site was down, I have two days to clock in.

Day 35: 282 words written

Day 36: 278 words written

Yesterday, I was a bit worried but I made it. Will have to adjust my routine now that I'm working again...

939 words today.  One of those 'drip, drip, drip...gush!' kind of days.

Gratifying to get to the dialogue.

Day 37: 267 words added to the Conference House, to my surprise. Mostly because I was at under a hundred words at 11:30 and somehow cranked out over 150 words within thirty minutes. I'm impressed and mystified.

531.

Some scenes are like connective tissue.  Not a lot of glamor, but necessary.  All the more reason to make the prose sparkle, eh what?  Of course, this is just a rough draft...

Got my 500 words in today and yesterday (forgot to post). This one is going worryingly smoothly, which either means I'm onto something or I'm doing it very wrong.

I know what you mean, Timothy.  I spent so long (years) avoiding this project at all costs, and now it's just leaping along.  It's only natural to assume that I am deluding myself when I dare think "Hey.  This is pretty good..."

676.  That's enough.   Minor, but challenging, scene tomorrow.  This weekend, another major tentpole scene.  Not a big week for numbers, but tons of crucial stuff happening over the next 3 to 4 thousand words.

A desultory effort, but I also had to replace the toilet.   523 words.  G'night.

Day 40 (Friday): Wrote 225 words

Day 41 (Saturday): Wrote 220 words

Not bad, especially yesterday with a prior engagement all afternoon and then a family member coming up last night for a visit. Word counts may suffer for the next week while relative is up because I want to spend time with her, no offense to my characters!

719 words.   Not too bad, though the whole scene may not find its way to the final draft.  Still not sure about one the bolts on the toilet though.  Might be leaking, might be sweating.  It's unusually hot and humid for California.

524 today.   I have been working on another project as well, and probably dropped about 700 there, but I've decided only to count the main project in my daily total.

Day 44 (Tuesday): 162 words written. Work, family visiting and just being tired kept my word count down.

Day 45 (Wednesday): 236 words written. A bit better.

418 yesterday.   Working a bit on something else.  Also, a very touchy scene.  Afraid of stepping wrong and knocking the whole thing over.  Need to ignore that fear and just get it down.  But sometimes, it feels like it's just hanging there, balanced in your mind but you can't quite see it yet, and if you move too fast you might scare it away.

Silly, I know.  Just get it down.

I'll try to pick up that delinquent 82 words today.

Day 46: 156 words. But it was the Fourth of July. I was having too much fun with family and friends to think about writing.

Unless writing answers down for a game counts.

First time back to post a word count since the redesign and gotta say I'm a little (lot) lost. So maybe this will show up, maybe not. Who knows? In any case, fighting to get back into good forward motion. And with the four day weekend -- thank heaven for that! -- I've logged 3K words over past two days, hoping next two go just as well....and hoping I can find my way back here to report on it.

happy writing all!
