Wrote a handful of words towards a review I owe a blog. But also received edits from my publisher for my book to be released in September. So rather than writing new words, I am once again fixing old ones. Have made it through 6,000 of about 30,000 to do in this batch. My goal before bed is to get to 10K and be done with all the edits in three days so I can get back to NEW words again.

796. Better than that, though, I have mapped out the whole next (massive) chapter. Uncertainty has been replaced with a pretty fair road map. A good day (despite the chaos is my personal life).

Spent the weekend not-writing. (And freaking out about how I wasn't writing.)
Rectified that tonight after lots of procrastination, closing out one coffee house, surviving a thunderstorm and the unbearable heat.
1578. All caught up from Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, and given the late/early hour, I'm 78 words ahead of today's words. I've been writing sequentially, but I surprised myself tonight by writing a scene very close to the end of the book. Always a good reminder to stay open to whatever is taking my attention the most.
Also very grateful to this group for keeping me honest. It feels so good to write with friends.

Barndi. I'm with you. I was a little dubious about this club idea, but after two weeks I'm happy with my progress. Maybe this can become a life-long habit after all.
Yesterday's progress: 521 words.
Week's total: 4917 words.
Progress so far: 9751.
I feel like I need to record the numbers for the same reason I need to record the number of miles I run per week (for exercise). Otherwise, I'll just keep doing less and less and finally peter out to nothing. I know myself too well.
Anyway, I'm well into the next chapter and I can see where it's going. (Eventually though, I'm going to have to get the names and characterizations on these minor characters straight. Just busy work, but it's going to become important as they become more deeply woven into the story.

This is rough, but I am mentally fried.
2077 words today. When we left Joseph he had killed four of the six of his enemies, but Cassandra got the drop on him and mentally tied him up. Joseph’s mental companion, from now on known as Bugs, is fighting against the psychic strangle hold.
Joseph is bleeding out. Cassandra is trying to find the code to the garage where the cure for ghouls is located. Bugs and Joseph are throwing every number Joseph has ever seen at the tendrils which are searching Joseph’s mind. The glamour, which is disguising the garage, is being probed, but only Joseph sees it, Cassandra is too focused.
Cassandra, a ghoul and a witch, reaches into Joseph’s stomach, thinking the additional pain will weaken him, is thrown out when Joseph and Bugs react to the memories of a prior violation of Joseph’s body. Her eyes are bleeding from the psychic trauma. Joseph reaches his pistol, which is on his hip, he does not draw it, he squeezes the trigger. A bullet rips through his calf muscle and slams Cassandra in her hip. Joseph yells, “Shot you again dumb ass.”
Cassandra, fueled by rage, rips loose with full force. The number is within reach when an attack from another quarter comes at Cassandra. Over whelmed and all but one of her force being dead, she retreats through a portal.
Joseph is dying and he knows it. He leans back and then he hears voices. Madelyn St. Croix, his witch lawyer, shows up with reinforcements. Joe wakes up in a hospital, which is run by the law firm Madelyn works for (Waites, Hannigan and Morgan LLC.) it is for Specials (All the things that go bump in the night), think Wolfram and Hart, but they are the good guys, well maybe.

I wrote 2148 yesterday so I'm 'caught up' to June 14 now. That means I'll spend the rest of the afternoon critiquing (other than dealing with the teens of course).
My MMC proposed through my FMC's bedroom door. That was fun. She said no, but she was upset and crying - clearly emotional and her judgment can't be trusted. He's not giving up that easy and asked her again via billboards. A close-up of the ring caused a car accident near her college. Oops! I love writing the new-adult market, it's just a fun age group and I can get so creative. Ever seen a million dollar engagement ring? (Tiffany & Co.) And she's going to say 'no' in person - just as soon as I finish critiquing this 30k piece I started a few days ago, and maybe one other.

I salute you all for being so diligent. I am behind. I did 440 or so two days ago and only 150 or so yesterday. I'm going to get back on track today. Life has been busy and kind of unpleasant, frankly. A lot of uncertainty about the future.
The book itself looks great (or at least potentially great) and I'm still spending a lot of time scribbling in my notebook and thinking about it. I will, dutifully, check in later.

Alexandria. Congratulations. I see you checking in every day. I'm finding it much easier to stay focused having these small, incremental goals.
The book I'm working on was on hold for the last four years. It's Book Two of a series, and since I never could sell Book One (despite dogged efforts), it seemed the wrong time to write book two. Now I'm looking forward to finishing this one so I can go back and work on Book One again, because the writing in Book Two has improved so markedly. (Or at least I hope it has. )

I do check in every day because it's a way to make sure I don't procrastinate/skip a day without good reason. If I have to report my progress, I make sure I have progress to report.
I don't think there's every a wrong time to write a book. No rule saying you have to sell Book One before writing Book Two. I hope things go well for you, Atthys.

Alexandria. No, it's certainly not a rule, but that was my mindset at the time. I was still full of naive optimism about my prospects of selling a book, I just had to find the right book, etc. My lack of success with that path had a lot to do with why I was so blocked up.
Now, I'm trying my best to not even think about who might or might not read or buy the final product. Writer's write. Marketers sell. The fact that we are expected to be both should in no way muddle the distinction between those two jobs. Ideally.
Anyway, I'm writing again. On a fundamental level, I'm already a success.

643 words. I'm having the opposite experience as Timothy. I'm getting a little bogged down in historical details (Is it the right fish? Is it in season? What would they have served with it?). I still dream of a future where people write dissertation on the bird imagery in my books. Gotta get this stuff right.
