Nerd Prom is coming to the Javits Center in New York City, and the Book
Country team is going to be there, too!
Yeah, you heard right: Book Country will have its own booth at this year’s New York ComicCon! Stop by stop Booth #2028 and meet the whole Book Country team, as well as a rotating gang of adventurous NAL/Berkley editors who graciously volunteered to help us (wo)man the booth. (Okay, we may have bribed them with free passes to the con and fabulous Book Country t-shirts…we’ll never tell.)
And if you stop by on Friday, you can meet urban fantasy writer extraordinaire Anton Strout, who will be working the booth with us and signing any copies of his books that you happen to bring by. (PS: You'll be able to buy copies of Anton's books at the Penguin Booth, #1145.)
We're never far from our beloved laptops, so we'll be giving demos of the Book Country site to anyone who wants one. We’re also giving away Nerd Alert buttons and Book Country badge holders in limited quantities each day.
AND...if you’re an active Book Country member attending ComicCon,
we have a special t-shirt for you! (Check out Anton modeling the shirt up there!) What do we mean by “active”? We mean that you use the site regularly and contribute to making it a great place for writers to hang out, that you’ve participated in or started a discussion, have critiqued some chapters or uploaded chapters of your own. Swing by the booth and introduce yourself by display name, and we’ll take a look at your profile to see how active you are. The t-shirt is just our way of saying
thank you!
Here's the Book Country team schedules, in case there's someone in particular you'd like to meet.
(We respond exceptionally well to cupcakes, by the way. Just thought I'd throw that out there. Danielle in no way coerced me to write that.)
- Editorial coordinator Danielle Poiesz will be at the Book Country booth on Thursday night from 4:00 to 7:00 PM, Friday from 2:30 to 7:00 PM, Saturday from 11:30 AM to 5:30 PM, and Sunday from 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM(ish).
- Book Country President Molly Barton will be there on Friday from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, and Saturday from 1:00 to 7:00 PM.
- Community manager Colleen Lindsay (that's me!) will be there on Thursday night from 4:00 to 7:00 PM, Friday from 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Saturday pretty much all day, and Sunday from 11:30 AM to 2:30 PM, and back again at 4:00 PM until close.
- Book Country conscript Anton Strout will be working the Book Country booth on Friday from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
If you're a fan of paranormal romance and urban fantasy, you'll really want to come to the panel that Colleen is moderating on Sunday afternoon:
Date: Sunday, October 16th
Time: 2:30 pm to 3:30 PM
Room: 1A23
Panel: We're No Angels: The Leading Ladies of SF/F
Panelists: Patricia Briggs, Alison Goodman, Kim Harrison, Jeaniene Frost, Marjorie M. Liu, Sabrina Benulis and Kristen Painter.
(And hey, if you do pick up one of our great buttons or t-shirts, take a photo of yourself wearing it and share it with us on our Facebook page! We'd love to see how you rock your Nerd Alert!)
About Colleen Lindsay
Colleen Lindsay lives under a bridge with a posse of well-armed trolls. (She doesn't really think you'll buy this, but it's completely true.)
