Short Bio:
I was born to Irish and English physicians who met in the heart of the British Empire when bombs were falling. I went to school in England, Ireland, New Zealand and Australia. I left Australia in the same week I ran for state parliament, was awarded my PhD in Physiology & Pharmacology (UNSW) and turned 27; and have been based around Philadelphia ever since. I worked as a lab scientist for 23 years (ending up as Assoc Prof at Univ Penn), and then as a medical writer (I was a full professor at Univ Sci Phila). Now I work in Africa and African communities, because once my eyes were opened, they cannot be shut. I publish books and websites.
