My novels tell of the brutality, love, fragility and hope that characterises life in modern day Africa. When I write, the characters become so vivid and real in my mind I wouldn't be at all surprised to hear them call out to me in the street one day. I might turn and greet them with a warm smile... or I might just run for my life!
I'm always intrigued by the way in which words convey the full range of human emotions and experience, in a way nothing else can. I'm sure the only regret I'll have on my death bed is not having read enough.
My first novel White Wahalla was shortlisted for the EU Literary Award in 2012 and is available for download on Amazon.com. It tells the story of a notorious moneylender whose business goes by the extravagant name of "The Last Best Hope Financial Service". And like a modern day celebrity, he is known by his first name only, Cash.
My second novel Dying in New York, is a haunting tale of child abuse and is set in South Africa and New York.
