I am wondering why Book Country Genre selection is so narrow. Contemporary fiction or world fiction should also be included for people who write stories based in different parts of the world. I am currently writing short stories about various kinds based in India / Nepal. I have posted it here on BC but I couldn't select a genre for it. I hope the genre category of BC expands soon : )

Sorry, I just saw this.

Our genre selection is limited because we are limited to what the publishing industry considers "genre fiction", ie, science fiction, fantasy, mystery, thriller and romance. Contemporary fiction isn't considered a genre.

Hi! Thank you for your feedback. I understand now that contemporary fiction does not fall under the category of "genre fiction" and I get the picture now. However, I was wondering if one can post a book here without selecting a genre.

Hi Yoshay -

No, the books must fit within one of our sub-genres on the genre map. It's possible this just isn't the right community for the kind of books you write.

Cheers!

Colleen
