About the Book:

At the dawn of a new century, the clattering hooves of horses blended in with the electric pops of streetcars buzzing in and around the French Quarter. Steamboats parked along the Mississippi River as the elite drove up St. Charles Avenue and down Canal Street in the first automobiles. As the world changed before her eyes, Ella Harrison chose to live the only life that she had been raised to know. Her smile would light up a room as the richest of the New Orleans society would pay top dollar for her, but Ella never learned how to become attached to men. Maybe a mobster, a cop, and a businessman could change her mind. Thus was the life of a New Orleans prostitute in 1915. Welcome to Storyville.
